Memorial Stones
The graveyard at St. Michaels Church Talley has been under
the administration of Talley Community Council since the mid
1940’s with the exception of a small area to the right of the
public footpath adjacent to the Abbey which is administered by
the Church authorities.
Until 1995 grave locations entered in the statuary burial record book
showed only one of three sections, A B or C, into which the graveyard
was divided. From 1995 the location of all new graves was recorded by
number on a plan of the graveyard
No attempt was made to record the location of existing graves and, as
available new plots were scattered at random around the graveyard,
numbering was not in sequence.
When Dafydd Evans undertook the recording of all memorial
inscriptions he did so in an orderly manner, row by row, in each
section. By transposing the row numbers onto the graveyard plan the
location of each numbered grave has been facilitated, however in some
areas the rows are not straight or distinct which may require some
searching to discover the exact location.

contains over 100 pages so loading could take time depending on your
modem speed. We are working on an online database which will make a
great deal of difference but this will take time so please bear with us!
It is suggested that once the file is obtained that use of Word's word
search using the name that is being researched will help. Good Luck.
